General
Studies
Mission
TTA’s General Studies will strive for excellence in meeting and exceeding Florida State guidelines and elementary school certification.

The General Studies curriculum will prepare them academically to meet the challenges of their continuing education. While there will be an emphasis on attaining academic information and skills, the curriculum will incorporate activities that foster thinking and application. All curriculum will be age and developmentally appropriate.

English Language
Arts
ELA will encompass fiction, non-fiction, poetry, short stories, and plays with focused skill instruction in the areas of written expression, grammar, comprehension, and creative writing.

Mathematics
As with all areas of instruction, mastery of the skills that are the basis of mastering mathematical computation will be emphasized. In addition, the program will include critical thinking, problem solving, and real-life applications.

Science
Science will study the concepts and principles central to the biological, physical, and earth sciences. They will learn safe methods for scientific investigation and be able to apply creative thinking and scientific knowledge in their everyday lives.

Social
Studies
Social Studies will integrate geography, history, government, economics, and civic responsibility. Students develop an awareness of, and concern for, the ways that the world’s people, resources, and environments are interrelated and interdependent. Students are encouraged to use their knowledge and skills to understand and address contemporary problems and issues.

Enhancing Education with Computers
The computer skills curriculum at TTA will prepare students to use computer technology for: schoolwork, accessing and applying information, problem solving, and communicating ideas and data.
Computer lessons are thus designed to strengthen math, science, social studies and language arts skills appropriate to the classroom curriculum. Students are also provided with carefully supervised access to the internet so that they may complete research for their classroom assignments and will receive guidance in internet safety.
